Inspired by the act of saving the earth, I eventually start the bike-to-work today!
Yeah, why not.... it's not too far. I measured the distance by car, and it only about 4km.
The worries
Actually, some things really worried me at the beginning of the day.
What if the bike broke down on the way?
This was my major question in mind. With this 'low-end' bike, will it stay it one piece? heheheh....
What if my outfit were really be a problem?
I don't have the biker's jersey, pants, shoes, and even the helmet. So I will just wearing a thin t-shirt and a short. And adding a parachute jacket...
What if I it's raining?
It's the raining season now...
And the other what if questions....
But then this morning I just make up my mind (or maybe just put away my rational thinking, to be exact), and go on with by bike! I left home at exactly 05.59. I took the same route as the everyday's car route. It's not the shortest route, but the one I know best. And the 4km distance travelled in about 25 minutes.
Arriving at school
I arrived at 06.25 at school. It's a new record, since I usually arrived at 07.15. My t-shirt was all wet. It seemed that there was already a very long time ago since my last exercise. Well, it's ok, I already prepared. So I went into my office and prepared my 'bathing gear'.
Tired and sleepy
As predicted, I felt a little tired and sleepy today (but it's nothing, because I feel all my muscles hurting me tonight hehehe..)
The journey home
16.15 .... time to go home. And one of my worries was very close to turn into a real problem. It was very cloudy outside, and I even started to feel the raindrops coming (or maybe it was just in my mind). So I hurried to my bike and go immediately home! I took the short route this time, but it's a hard route involving a very rough stoney road, a little muddy, and the biggest problem was a very steep hill to climb! The last (and biggest) problem had to be solved traditionally: I step down the bike and pushed it! Actually I tried to shift into the 'easy' gear, but it was too late.
This route is about 3km, and I need about 20 minutes to reach home. And it was just in time, because it was raining hard enough just a few minutes after I got home.
